Vidal not planning on swapping Bayern for Chelsea to reunite with Conte

Arturo Vidal has no intention of a reunion with Antonio Conte at Chelsea because he says there is no reason for him to leave Bayern Munich.

The Chile international spent three years playing under Conte s tutelage at Juventus, with the club winning the Serie A title in each season.

Conte is reportedly already in the process of drawing up a list of transfer targets at Stamford Bridge for the close-season and there have been suggestions  that Vidal who swapped Turin for Bayern Munich in 2015 is high on his list.

However, the 29-year-old sees his long-term future in the Bundesliga and not in the Premier League.

These are just rumours that are emerging quickly, he told Sport Bild.

After all, I played three very successful years under coach Conte at …

Tottenham failed in Diawara approach

Talksport understands that Tottenham Hotspur failed in a summer approach for Napoli forward Amadou Diawara.

The North London outfit were the only side in the Premier League to not sign a player in the recently closed transfer window and became the first club not to bring in any new recruits since the window was introduced in 2003.

They were linked with several players including Jack Grealish of Aston Villa, though they made an approach for Diawara according to Italian newspaper Corriere Dello Sport.

However, Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti was not interested in doing business, with the twenty-one-year-old very much in his plans.

Since signing from Bologna in the summer of 2016 Diawara has racked up thirty-nine appearances in Serie A, with his one and …

Lazio beat Bayern Munich as PSG take control against Real Sociedad

Ciro Immobile’s second-half penalty earned Lazio a shock 1-0 first-leg win over 10-man Bayern Munich in the Champions League last-16.

Striker Immobile sent Manuel Neuer the wrong way from 12 yards in the 69th minute after Bayern defender Dayot Upamecano was sent off for a late challenge on Gustav Isaksen.

The Bundesliga side, who arrived in Rome on the back of a damaging 3-0 defeat to title rivals Bayer Leverkusen, dominated first-half possession but were unable to capitalise, with Harry Kane largely starved of service.

Leroy Sane and Jamal Musiala each went close for the six-time European champions before Immobile’s spot-kick settled the contest to increase pressure on Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel.

Williams agrees Ipswich loan

Crystal Palace midfielder Jonathan Williams has joined Ipswich Town on a one-month loan deal.

Williams has not started a Premier League game for Palace this season, with the last of his nine substitute appearances coming against Tottenham in January.

The Wales international joins an Ipswich side looking to get back in the Championship play-off hunt after slipping five points behind sixth-placed Reading due to a winless run of four games.

Williams has made 64 senior appearances for Palace since making his first-team debut against Coventry City in August 2011 and was named the club s young player of the year for his role in getting them promoted back to the top flight last season.

He signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract at Selhurst Park last month, but has m…

Courtois rubbishes Real rumours

Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has rubbished reports he will allow his Chelsea contract to run down in order to join Real Madrid.

Courtois has impressed again at Atleti in his third season on loan at the club from the Premier League leaders.

Reports in Spanish media over the weekend claimed he would look to move to the Bernabeu in 2016, when his current deal at Stamford Bridge expires, having grown frustrated with a lack of first-team opportunities since joining from Genk in 2011.

The Belgium international s form has helped propel Diego Simeone s side to second in La Liga, just three points behind city rivals Real.

And he appears destined to return to Chelsea at the season s end, with the 21-year-old rejecting suggestions he will look to engineer a m…

Prediction: Italy vs Ukraine

Verdict: Double Chance – Ukraine-Draw

Best Odds:

Bookmaker:

Italy are getting ready to continue the rebuilding process following what turned out to be a disastrous 2018 World Cup qualification campaign. Roberto Mancini has not been overly successful at the beginning of his Italy reign and will definitely be looking to get back to winning ways against Ukraine.

Italy

The Italian national team has endured some difficult times of late and it would appear that the managerial change did little to kick-start the Azzurri following a hugely disappointing World Cup qualifying.

The arrival of Roberto Mancini failed to nip the Italy slump as the Azzurri went on to win just one in five games under Mancini’s tutelage. The former Manchester City boss rec…

Higuain, Dybala, Cuadrado and Mandzukic to start against Barcelona, confirms Allegri

Juventus will start four forwards in their Champions League quarter-final against Barcelona on Tuesday, coach Massimiliano Allegri has confirmed.

The Serie A leaders have racked up 32 straight wins at home in the league and have not lost a European game at home for four years as they prepare for a rerun of the 2015 Champions League final.

Allegri s men have only conceded twice in this season s Champions League but the coach said he will be naming an attacking line-up for Tuesday s opening leg although defensive solidity will still be important.

I won t say the formation, but tomorrow the four up front [[Juan] Cuadrado, [Paulo] Dybala, [Mario] Mandzukic and [Gonzalo] Higuain] will all start, Allegri said. When you play the first leg at home, it s always nice not …

Failing to bounce back from their defeat at the hands of Manchester City last weekend, Thomas Tuchel s side put in another flat display as they saw Federico Chiesa stun them only 11 seconds after the restart.
